The Mad River Valley is celebrated by locals and visitors for its four-season recreation opportunities, including youth and adult sports leagues.

Lacrosse
Founded in 2008, Highlander Youth Lacrosse is a community-based, all-volunteer, non-profit recreational organization. Highlander Youth Lacrosse is committed to providing a positive, team-oriented athletic experience and is open to kindergarten through 8th graders, boys and girls teams, in the Mad River Valley and Waterbury areas. Practice usually starts in late March and games are in early May to mid-June. Generally, registration starts January 1 - March 15

Soccer
Mad River Valley Soccer Association’s recreational program is open to players of all ability levels who live locally.

Little League
Mad River Valley Little League brings the highest youth baseball and softball experience to children in the Mad River Valley.

Harwood Youth Basketball
Mad River Valley Youth Basketball is offered to both boys and girls in grades 1 - 6 in the Mad River Valley.

Bill Koch League
The Mad River Valley Bill Koch League is dedicated to creating well rounded cross-country skiers. Mad River BKL is a program for K-8 graders. The 2024 season for New England BKL ended with a festival at Rikerts in early March. More than 30 Mad River skiers participated as well as over 700 skiers K-G8 from all over New England.

Mad River Rippers
The Rippers is a professionally coached bike program for kids and families, from 2 year-olds on strider bikes to high schoolers.

Skiing & Snowboarding
Sugarbush Resort & Mad River Glen offer lessons and seasonal programs for kids ages 3 - 17.

Mad River Dance Academy has closed
Sadly, there is no longer a branch of Stowe Dance Academy in Waitsfield.

Additional Youth Sports such as running, hockey and tennis are also available.
